WEST LOMBOK, The Lombok Herald – The spirit of collaboration between the West Lombok Indonesian Vintage Bicycle Community (KOSTI) and the government was once again evident in a concrete action to protect the coastal environment on Sunday (19/10/2025), when a social service activity entitled Beach Clean-up Action was held on the coast of Cemara Beach, Lembar Selatan Village, Lembar Sub-district, West Lombok Regency.
The activity, which took place from early morning until noon, was part of a joint movement to create a clean and litter-free environment along the Cemara Beach coastline. Plastic waste, household waste and other non-biodegradable materials were collected and then disposed of at a temporary waste disposal site. This activity also received support from H. Muhamad Saleh, S.Pd, Head of Lembar Selatan Village, Sapoan, Head of Lembar Sub-district, KOSTI Mataram City officials, and the community around Cemara Beach.
Cemara Beach was chosen as the location because it is a coastal area with beautiful tourism potential but also faces serious challenges related to waste management. Lembar Selatan Village is one of the coastal areas vulnerable to marine pollution caused by plastic waste and domestic waste. This initiative aims to raise public awareness about the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness.

With a spirit of mutual cooperation, the volunteers showed that protecting the environment is a shared responsibility. This activity is a concrete step taken by the onthelis KOSTI West Lombok to serve and educate the community around the beach to always maintain cleanliness and not litter, so that the beach will be clean, comfortable, and eventually attract many tourists to visit Cemara Beach," he said.
Meanwhile, Muhamad Saleh, S.Pd, Head of Lembar Selatan Village, when interviewed on the sidelines of the Cemara Beach clean-up activity, expressed his gratitude and high appreciation to KOSTI West Lombok for participating in the beach clean-up activity in our area in Lembar Selatan Village, because maintaining cleanliness and cleaning up rubbish is the responsibility of us all.
‘The activities carried out by KOSTI West Lombok are extraordinary. We hope that these activities will be considered as acts of worship. May all members of KOSTI West Lombok always be blessed with good health and continue to carry out social activities, such as today's activity,’ he explained.
Sapoan, S.H., Head of Lembar Sub-District, expressed a similar sentiment. He also appreciated KOSTI West Lombok for caring about the environment. With this activity, many visitors will automatically come here because the beach is clean, so that the economy here will run well. This is in line with West Lombok's tagline, ‘Prosperity from the Village.’
‘This highlights the importance of collaboration between all levels of society and the local government to work together to preserve the environment. Because our region has many extensive beaches offering beautiful sandy shores, hills and local wisdom, we hope that this activity will not stop here. Let us work together to preserve this environment in a sustainable manner,’ he said (Yp).
